On June 6, 2022, IRAE submitted public comments to the FDA on its proposed rule, Tobacco Product Standard for Characterizing Flavors in Cigars. We strongly oppose FDA’s proposed tobacco product standard banning flavors in cigars, which is not founded, as required in the Tobacco Control Act, on an appropriate consideration of scientific evidence and, in other ways, violates every principle of effective regulation.
